How it works?

Local travel agency in Taipei

If Taiwan has managed to rise above its former status as an Asian Tiger to become a full-fledged travel destination, it is because the island of Formosa truly has so much to offer. Taiwan gives travelers the chance to (re)discover Chinese culture through a uniquely Taiwanese lens. One of the island’s greatest strengths lies in its harmonious blend of local traditions and Chinese heritage: Buddhist and Taoist temples stand side by side with aboriginal rituals.

The island of Taiwan offers an impressive diversity of landscapes: fine sandy beaches, palm trees, and tropical forests delight visitors in search of escape, while the many mountains (especially in the central region) and the scenic roads encircling the island will please hiking and cycling enthusiasts.

And how could one speak of Taiwan without mentioning its cuisine—so central to its culture and present on every street corner—offering a delicious fusion of flavors from southern China and the island’s aboriginal cultures.

A trip to Taiwan will delight all your senses!

Questions to our local agent in Taïwan

What makes Taiwan special? Why visit this country? *

Despite its relatively small size (400 km from north to south), Taiwan has everything that makes a dream destination: its varied landscapes of mountains, beaches, forests, and small islands; its extremely warm and welcoming population; its surprisingly delicious cuisine; and its delightful atmosphere—a blend of otherworldly remoteness and aboriginal and Chinese influences.

What sets Taiwan apart from other Asian countries is the plurality of its identity: sometimes Chinese, sometimes aboriginal, and even Japanese in certain areas. Taiwan’s character shifts from one region to another. And despite the presence of large cities, a trip to Taiwan always brings that pleasant feeling of being cut off from one’s usual reality, in another world that invites exploration and sensory discovery: a hot spring hidden in the mountains, the aromas of street restaurants, the solemnity of temples… Visiting Taiwan is about arriving there by chance the first time, and returning out of love.

When is the best season to travel to Taiwan? *

Spring and autumn are very pleasant in Taiwan, with mild temperatures and little rain, but winter may actually be the best time to visit the island, especially to enjoy the Chinese New Year festivities in February. During this period, the south is also warm enough for swimming and beach activities. Apart from summer (which is the rainy and typhoon season), traveling to Taiwan is enjoyable for about eight months of the year, from October to May.

What typical local dishes would you recommend to future travelers to Taiwan? *

Taiwan’s gastronomy is so rich that it’s hard to choose just one dish. Each region has its own flavors, so it’s worth touring the island to taste all the different specialties.
Braised pork rice, beef noodles, oyster omelet, steamed dumplings, bubble tea… Even the infamous stinky tofu, despite its name, deserves to be given a chance.
