Day 2 : Taipei (B)
Breakfast, and a day dedicated to exploring the capital’s famous sites and monuments. You’ll begin your day at the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall, an impressive monument dedicated to the great Chinese leader. The majestic hall overlooks more than 25 hectares of landscaped gardens, graceful pavilions, and ponds. An imposing statue of the late president watches over the city from the main building. An elegant Ming-style arch at the main entrance is flanked by two classical-style buildings, the National Theater and the National Concert Hall. The square between the two buildings is a popular gathering place for festive occasions, as well as for simply strolling with the family or relaxing with a book after a hard day’s work.
Continue to the Boan Temple and the Confucius Temple, built over 230 years ago, making it one of the oldest temples on the island. You will then head to the National Palace Museum, which houses the world’s largest collection of Chinese art treasures. A quick stop at the Grand Hotel, dating from 1952, built facing the Keelung River like a 14-story palace based on an architectural concept resulting from an East-West fusion, making it a beautiful expression of Chinese art based on modern Western architecture. It will then be time, in the late afternoon, to head to the Shilin Night Market, one of the most famous on the island. Don’t hesitate to share a table with the locals to enjoy some freshly prepared dishes or skewers! Return to your hotel.

Day 3: Taipei and surrounding areas (B)
Breakfast and day trip outside the city. An hour’s drive will take you to Yehliu Geographic Park on the northeast coast.
Yehliu is famous for its natural rock formations, which are an incredible array of artistic forms created by erosion and other natural forces. Among the rocks, the Queen’s Head is one of the most famous! But beyond this very touristy spot, take the time to venture out onto the peninsula. The trail is mainly used for hiking in the natural environment and for birdwatching. Venture to the highest point and its magnificent view of the ocean and the cliffs. You will be alone in the world! Return to Taipei and don’t miss the unmissable Taipei 101, the tallest tower in Taiwan with its underground shopping center and its many refined restaurants and cafes. The 85th floor will be your vantage point with a bird’s eye view of the entire city. Finally, at the end of the day, enjoy a bike ride along Riverside Park. Stretching along the riverbanks between Zhongshan and Dazhi Bridges in Taipei’s Zhongshan District, Dajia Riverside Park is an urban greenery project inspired by an effort initiated by the city government to straighten the course of the Keelung River. The park boasts sports facilities for basketball, tennis, badminton, and croquet, as well as a several-kilometer bike path. A popular weekend getaway known for its spaciousness, convenient parking, and scenic beauty, Dajia Riverside Park hosts major events that showcase Taipei’s metropolitan vibrancy. Return to the hotel.
Free dinner and overnight stay at the 3* Hotel B.
Day 4: Taipei and surrounding areas (B)
Breakfast and new insights into the daily lives of Taipei residents. Your day will begin with a Tai Chi session in the heart of Park 228 (Peace Park). An instructor will introduce you to Tai Chi for an hour, and you can watch locals practicing this martial art every morning in the park’s alleys. A pleasant moment of tranquility in this green lung in the heart of the city.
Then head to the northwest coast to reach Danshui. Danshui was formerly called Huwei. It is a derivation of the ancient Hoba language. It means the exit of the river. The city is surrounded by mountains and rivers, the landscape is bucolic, especially at sunset over the river and the sea. You will stroll along the quays bordering the mouth of the river, with its many cafes and seafood restaurants very popular on weekends with locals who like to meet there with their families. A little further, the quiet fishing village of Tamsui, where lovers like to rest and contemplate the horizon, even from the famous “lovers’ bridge” completed in 2003. In the evening, the bridge lights up in a wide variety of colors. Stroll through the alleys of the hillside town towards its fort and its famous university, walk along the shopping street where you will certainly find something to nibble on some local specialties.

Day 5: Taipei – Tainan (high-speed train) (B)
This morning, head to Taipei Main Station and take the high-speed train to Tainan, which departs very frequently. A sense of service, organization, comfort, and courtesy in the station and on board the trains are the order of the day. In two hours, you will have reached the south of Taiwan and the city of Tainan, the oldest city and capital of the island. You will visit several major sites, but above all, take the time to lose yourself in the maze of dead ends and alleys that give Tainan’s city center an undeniable old-world charm. Here, take the time to live, savoring tea in a vintage cafe while observing picturesque street scenes. A quick visit to Anping Fort and Fort Provintia, a former Dutch outpost built in 1653 when the island was partly ruled by the Dutch East India Company as Dutch Formosa. You’ll visit Luerhmen Mazu Temple, before finishing your day with some shopping at the must-see Hayashi Department Store, with its art deco facade dating back to 1932 during the Japanese colonial era. It’s the oldest shopping mall in Taiwan.
Dinner on your own and overnight stay at the 3-star FX Hotel. We highly recommend venturing into one of the street food alleys, where you’ll find an incredible local atmosphere of scents, flavors, and excitement!
Day 6: Tainan and its region (B)
Breakfast and departure for Cigu, the salt mountain. Salt production took place here for 338 years. However, the site was no longer economically viable and ceased its activity in 2002, to the great delight of young and old who now come to have fun there! You can climb to the top of a 6-story salt hill! You will learn more about the past activity through some exhibitions of old machines and other educational activities around salt. Continue to the “green tunnel” of Sicao. The most memorable image of the Sicao green tunnel is the mangrove forest extending over the water to form a tunnel. The still surface of the water reflects the green leaves, creating a fantastic waterway, and because of its dense forest, it has earned the nickname “Little Amazon River.” On a slow-moving raft, the sun shines through the trees, the sounds of insects and birds surround you, and fiddler crabs greet you from the water’s edge! In this quiet, hidden part of town, you can see nature coexisting harmoniously with the city.
Back in town, head to one of Tainan’s famous night markets, where you can improvise your dinner in this city renowned for its culinary specialties. Your guide will be happy to advise you.
Overnight at the 3* FX Hotel.
Day 7: Tainan - Kaohsiung (B)

You will continue your visit to Lotus Lake, with its profusion of temples and pavilions that line the lake. On the south bank of the pond are the Dragon and Tiger Pagodas, two twin towers built on 7 floors. Make sure to enter through the dragon’s mouth and exit through the tiger’s jaws! Finally, you will end your day with a walk along the Love River that winds through the center of Kaohsiung city, with its green spaces and relaxation areas particularly appreciated by lovers at sunset, in a very romantic atmosphere.

Day 9: Taitung, between sea and mountains (B)
Breakfast and departure for exploring Taitung and its surrounding area. You will visit the “Bunun Culture and Education Foundation”, established in 1995. It is the first foundation dedicated to the aboriginal community in Taiwan. In 1995, Reverend Sheng-Guang Pai and his wife decided to return to their hometown, Yen-Ping Village, Taitung County, to serve the indigenous minorities. They are very familiar with the problems faced by the aborigines in land ownership, education, agriculture, transportation, culture, economy, etc., and they target the educational needs of the aborigines as their priority. While performing missionary work, they provide after-school guidance to children every day and organize educational camps with universities every year. Your day continues to Luye Highlands, where the hot air balloon festival is held every year from June to August. The scenery is stunning, especially in the Eastern Rift Valley. The rest of the day will be spent at Dongshan Mr. Brown Avenue, a site crisscrossed by country roads winding through lush, green rice paddies that’s popular with walkers and cyclists.
Free dinner and overnight stay at the 3* Hoya Hotel in Taitung.
Day 10: Taitung and its coastal natural riches (B)

Stop at the Xiaoyehliu site, where picturesque sandstone rock formations plunge into the sea. Visit the Nnabiya Coffee Shop for a short break and a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean. You will then go to Douli Beach with its interactive recreation center and exhibitions highlighting the natural heritage of Taiwan’s picturesque east coast. Finally, it will be time to explore the Sanxiantai site, made up of islands and coral reefs. There you will see three enormous rocks that have spawned legends about three Chinese saints: Lyu-Dongbin, Li-Tieguai and He-Xiangu, who landed on the island, hence the name (The Island of the Three Saints). The place is famous for its long walkway, reminiscent of a dragon’s body, which connects the coast to the largest island.
Return to Taitung.

Allow approximately 4 hours of travel time on a local train for a truly Taiwanese experience. Arrival in Taipei, transfer to your hotel, the 3-star Hotel B, for check-in. You will then head to the young and bustling Ximen district, with its shops, impromptu street performances, tattoo shops, and numerous dining options, especially in the evening. Continue to Lungshan Temple, the oldest temple in the city and certainly the most beautiful, especially when illuminated by the moon and its discreet lighting after dark. A very special atmosphere reigns here, in total contrast to the lively Monga Night Market, just a stone’s throw away (Guangzhou Street Night Market). You will head there for your impromptu dinner. This market has managed to remain authentic and is very popular with locals. Weather permitting, during the day you’ll take a look at the giant wall and its armored gates that protect Taipei from flooding in summer during typhoons; it’s an integral part of the city’s identity.
