The East Coast 台灣東部

Some photos from the East Coast

Taiwan’s east coast boasts a unique natural landscape, spanning parks, forests, mountains, beaches, and islands. From north to south, it is crisscrossed by roads that run along the coast, offering magnificent scenery and an unforgettable journey.
There you will find a must-see on your trip to Taiwan, the Taroko Gorge, with its impressive marble cliffs and small islands that will transport you to a world still unknown to the general public.
From Yilan to Taitung, passing through Hualien, lies the sumptuous East Coast National Scenic Area, which you can explore by car, scooter, or even bicycle. Nicknamed by some “Little Hawaii,” the region boasts sumptuous panoramas, some of which are straight out of films such as Jurassic Park (1993). Whether your eyes are cast inland or out toward the endless ocean, you can’t help but be enchanted by the view.
Following the earthquake of April 3, 2024, Taiwan remains accessible to travelers. The city of Hualien, the epicenter of the earthquake, is once again accessible by road!
Taroko Gorge, a major tourist attraction in the country, also remains closed until further notice. It will take several months to explore the gorge’s trails again. If it ever does, it will likely be short, quick walks to viewpoints. It seems no more. The trails/mountains are badly damaged.
