If you’ve decided to venture north of Taipei, then Yehliu Geopark is a worthwhile attraction. A 90-minute bus ride from Taipei, Yehliu Cape offers a stunning sight: the combination of strong gusts of wind and marine erosion over the ages has created unique shapes reminiscent of, depending on your preference, fairy shoes or the bust of Nefertiti. The site’s ochre colors enhance the magic of the place.
With a span of 1,700 meters, Yehliu Cape is primarily a draw for its eroded coral. However, the visit also extends to the tip of the peninsula, where Turtle Head Hill is located, offering a superb view of the ocean. The latter gets its name from the fact that, according to legend, the peninsula resembles a turtle moving toward the sea.
