The South 台灣南部
Some photos from Southern Taiwan
The 400 kilometers that separate the North from the South of Taiwan, on a global scale, seem insignificant. And yet, these are two quite different worlds that coexist there. The Taiwan of Taipei (in the North) resembles nothing at all the Taiwan of Kaohsiung (in the South). If the island is a fascinating blend of different Chinese, Aboriginal, Japanese and Western cultures, it is in the South of the island that Taiwanese identity and traditions are best preserved. Indeed, Taiwan is a leader in eco-tourism, and strives to preserve both its natural landscapes for which it is renowned, but also its Aboriginal tribes, who are at the heart of the country’s culture.
