Located on the seafront, Tamsui District is a popular destination for Taipei residents, who come to enjoy the setting and relax for an afternoon before watching the beautiful sunset. The visit will also be an opportunity for you to discover a little more of Taiwan’s history with some tourist sites such as Fort San Domingo (built by the Spanish in 1628), or Tamsui Church and Huwei Mackay Hospital, both built by a Canadian missionary. But the place is especially popular for its walks along the banks of the Tamsui River, its shopping streets buzzing with activity (and street food), its cruises to explore the surroundings, its wharves and its artists.
How to get to Tamsui?
Take Subway Line 2 (Tamsui-Xinyi Line) and get off at the Tamsui terminus (Northbound).
