Ximen (or Ximending) is one of the liveliest places in Taipei, and for good reason: the area is full of shops, restaurants, bars, and other activities such as game rooms, KTVs, cinemas, and even a night market. The area is most pleasant to see at night, when it is illuminated by giant screens and billboards. While some parts of the capital exude tradition, Ximending would be an interesting detour to make if you want to discover the more modern and offbeat side of the country.
