Introduction to Yushan National Park
Yushan is home to Taiwan’s highest mountain, Mount Jade (3,952 meters). With 30 peaks above 3,000 meters, dense forests, cliffs, and valleys, the park is certainly a hiker’s paradise, provided you have a permit. Depending on the difficulty of the various trails, you will need to apply for a permit online so that the authorities can be sure you are capable of tackling the most challenging routes.
Of course, if you don’t want to apply for a visa, there are still plenty of peaks to choose from, allowing you to admire sunsets and sunrises at your leisure. And if you feel tired, the Dongpu Hot Springs will help you gently relax.
Yushan is accessible by bus via Puli (Nantou) or Chiayi.
